“Harassment and bullying are serious, serious problems…especially LGBT students. This work (of GSA Clubs) is absolutely essential…helping students stay in school.”

“Gay-straight alliances in schools reduce suicide risk for all students.”
International Journal of Child, Youth, and Family Studies, January, 2014

"Teen suicide, homelessness, school drop-outs, drug abuse and mental health problems are epidemic in the LGBTQ student community. Recent research shows that GSA Clubs, along with school-wide anti-discrimination policies reduce teen suicidal thinking, behavior and binge drinking in ALL students. GSA Clubs offer a safe place for students to feel nurtured, supported, generative and creative. This is why it is so important for us to support the projects generated by these clubs."

The Mission of CLUBFUNDER® is to engage in charitable services including fundraising activities to generate and distribute funds via grants to support projects and activities produced by Gay Straight Alliance Clubs and/or support activities of GSA club members.

We support GSA Clubs in their efforts to promote personal safety, school safety, education, physical & mental health, and the well being of all students (including LGBTQ students) within their schools. We fund student and teacher projects generated by GSA Clubs.

Research has shown that LGBTQ youth are at an extremely high risk for: suicide, homelessness, bullying, school dropout, parental eviction, drug abuse, HIV/STDs, physical and mental problems.

Research has demonstrated that schools with GSA Clubs and anti-bullying and anti-discrimination policies reduce suicide ideation and binge drinking. We believe that homelessness, bullying, school dropout, parental eviction, HIV/STDs, physical and mental health problems will also be reduced by schools having GSA Clubs and adequate anti-bullying and anti-discrimination policies.

Family, social and societal rejections are root causes of these risk factors for LGBTQ youth.

Apart from the family, junior and senior high school is the primary social crucible in which young people form a sense of their identity and potential role in society.

GSA Clubs in junior and senior high schools are vital in providing students opportunities to improve self esteem as well as critical social and thinking skills.

  1. We support GSA Club efforts to promote the personal safety of LGBTQ and all students as they offer a secure, respectful environment for students to discuss school safety, discrimination, sexual orientation, gender identity and other relevant topics.
  2. We support GSA Club efforts to promote the physical and mental health of LGBTQ and all students thru discussion of gender, HIV/STDs, drug abuse and other health related topics.
  3. We support GSA Club educational efforts to reduce drop-out rates of LGBTQ and all students, and to enhance student positive impact on community attitudes, myths, misinformation, self esteem and peer-group pressure.
  4. We support GSA Club efforts to promote school safety by addressing bullying, homophobia, transphobia, racism and other forms of discrimination in schools, youth communities and the community at large.
  5. We support GSA Club efforts to promote the well-being of students; through recognition of individual talents, skills, interests and values necessary for academic and future success. GSA Clubs help students reach their full potential as balanced and productive individuals.
  6. We fund student projects that meet the needs of GSA Clubs. We fund teacher projects including, but not limited to, in-service teacher training and conferences to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
